Mandaragiri Hills - Peacock Temple

It was another weekend and another long pending trip was due. It's Mandaragiri hills, a Jain temple which is near tumkur. It was also one of the less explored location and we thought of spending a peaceful day there. As there are no worthy places near by and we have a hill to climb (around 400+ steps) and a lake near by we didn't plan for any other destination this time. We just want to spend a relaxed day in the destination.

Round Trip on Odometer: 166KMs

Staring Time: 11:30 AM

Return To Home: 6:30 PM

Route: If you are staying close to NICE road, join the NICE road and take exit on Tumkur extension and follow the Nelamangala route, you need to take a right turn on the Tumkur road. you may follow the maps that I gave above. If you are staying any other part of Bangalore you may reach Nelamangala and follow further road to reach the destination.

It was raining heavily before night and we were skeptical about the weather on the day of journey. And as usual we woke up pretty late and got ready quickly and started our journey at 11:30 AM and we reached the destination by 1:30PM. On the way we stopped at couple of Hanuman temples. After dropped on the Tumkur extention don't take the toll road and follow the service road. One is the 50 feet Hanuman temple and we also have Sai and Santoshi mata temples in the same temple. After completing the Darshan there we resumed our journey and there is another Hanuman temple on the way a big black Hanuman statue. There are some vans on the way which are selling the Black grapes in a basket for Rs.100. Which is worth of the money.

Finally we reached the destination after the 2 hours drive and to our shock/surprise there are around 100+ cars in the parking and we are sccared to go there. But as it was already lunch time and we see most of the people are taking the steps to reach the hill top. And the famous peacock temple also very huge that it does not look crowded at all. So we relaxedly took time and spent time in the temple and it was already 2:30PM. We had our lunch and quickly started our treck to the hill top. We were able to treck up the hill and we have reached the top with in 30 minutes with multiple breaks for photo shoots.

After spending some time on the hill top there is also a lake near by and we also want to visit the lake near by and we need to walk around 2Kms. It was tiresome as we already completed the trek and finally we reached the lake and view was just breathtaking and we relaxed completely. We spent good amount of time at the lake and it started drizzling so we stareted rushing back to the parking slot and we started the return journey at 5:10PM and we reached home at 6:45PM. The journey was awesome and we had a pleasant one day trip
