BhairavaKona Trip

We have a family function to attend and after that we have reached our cousin's home in Ongole the capital city of Prakasham Dt. Next day we have to travel to Srisailam and we have a day break. So we have planned to visit to one of the long pending places in our wishlist 'Bhaiarava Kona' which is in the amidst of the thick Nallamala forest. BhaiaravaKona is around 150Kms from Ongole. We have planned to start by 7AM (20-07-2019) in the morning due to continuous travel in the previous days we couldn't wake up at the right time, so we have started by 9AM. Routes are nice and thankfully whether is also perfect for a ling drive. We choose the route of Ongole-Tangutur-Kandukur-Pamur-CSPuram-BhaiaravaKona. We found the route is good with nice roads all through. We have reached BhairavaKona at 12:20PM with one break.

We directly rushed to the waterfalls, whose source supposed to be unknown. Due to delay in monsoons we couldn't get much water there, but the made a check dam kind of provision to have a water storage and limited water coming from the top. We had good fun in the water from almost 1.5Hrs, and we got rid of all the tiredness of driving for 3.5Hrs. Beware there are lot of monkeys🐵around so live and let live.😄  After lot of time spending in the water we changed our dresses and went to visit the local deity trimuka durgamba devastanam. Brahma Vishnu and Shiva are seen on the same sculpture in the temple, which the uniqueness of this temple and the face of it is Durga.

This temple is an unique structure similar to that of the Mahabalipuram it seems. The rock-cut cave temples are somewhat similar to the one at Mahabalipuram, not surprising because the cave temples at Bhairavakona were built around the 7th Century A.D probably by the Vishnukundina kings, in the same time period as the Pallava kings of Mahabalipuram. There are 8 shrines for Lord Shiva in 8 different forms. The sculpture also reminds you of the sculpture at Mahabalipuram.

We had our darshan and had our lunch that we got packed from home. I suggest people to pack their lunch and go as we don't see any place where you can have your lunch. We started back to ongole at 3PM and reached 6:30 PM to Ongole with couple of breaks. There are some other places near by is Malakonda Lakshmi Narasimha swamy temple, which will be opened only on saturday. Then we can also visit Narayana Swamy temple. So if you start on a saturday then you may cover all these 3 places. As we started late we couldn't cover them. This time I couldn't carry my camera, so the pictures are not that great.
