Going Back to our roots- Half a day trip to our native Place "Chilumuru"

After visiting multiple places around our native place, on this sunday we have decided to go back to our roots from where our family name comes from i.e Chilumuru. This is the place in Guntur district, Kollur Mandal, Andhra Pradesh. The nearest place is Tenali. It is around 17Kms from there which will take around 30miuntes of drive.

The drive is beautiful through the double road that has greenery all around, which makes the drive beautiful. We have started around 10AM from our home and reached the place around 10:30AM. We had abhishekam in the ubhayarameswara Kshetram and spent our time till 12:30 there. The temple is pretty old as old as Treta Yuga. As per the skanda purana, while coming back from lanka post killing of Ravana, Rama will be establishing lingams across all the banks of the rivers to get rid of brhma hatya patakam.

On the bank of Krishna river when they planned to establish the sivalingam, Rama asked hanuma to bring the lingam from Kailasa. But as the muhurt is getting delayed sita devi established this Siakata lingam and did prana pratishta. When hanuma came back from kailasa he try to remove the saikata lingam then the lingam started growing continuously, then sita devi took some sand and kept it as a knot on top of the lingam and then the growth stopped. Sri rama established the lingam that is brought by hanuma on the other side of the krishna river bank in the vilage called Iluru. Both the places put to gether is called Ubhaya Rameswara Kshetram.

In the 12th century during the chola raja dynasty, when they are passing by the river they have seen the sivalingam without any temple, so they have constructed the temple in 1153. There are some records/carvings in the temple that shows the same. There is also beautiful carvings/statues on the temple such as Nataraja and sri chakra etc.

There is also venugopala swamy temple in the same compound but now there are on the either side of the road. The siva temple is in between coconut, palm and banana fields. Venugopala swamy temple is situated between Lemon, turmeric, Banana and Betal leaf plants. Which makes these temples and the surroundings makes it beautiful and pleasure for eyes.

If we go past these temples by one more Km, we can reach the krishna river bank and we can take a holy dip there. But please be watchful on the surroundings, as there are no much devotees visiting these places currently due to covid and the other reasons this place is mostly occupied by drinkers and there are broken bottles all across the place, which is very sad to see.

But we have spent some time near the river bank and had some photo session aroud the temple and the other greenery. We also visited our ancisters places where they used to live and interacted with people around and they are also very happy to see us visiting back to our roots. With loads of happiness and memories we started our drive back to Tenali around 1:30PM and we had lunch outside and reached home around 3PM. We had a beautiful one day trip and earned loads of memories and beautiful moments.
